Athená Polymenis
Founder
Polymenis is a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film. Like many students she has dabbled in many aspects of filmmaking but has found herself drawn to being a Cinematographer and Director. She also has an innate skill for Producing despite her lackluster reaction to it.
She wasn't always a filmmaker, and frankly - she never quite intended to become one. She began as a painter at the age of six and continued this passion until about the age of eighteen. She focused on hyperrealistic work which ranged from heavy body acrylic, to colored pencil, and linocutting. Here is where she learned the practical and most transferable lessons in color, shape, and composition that inform her visual storytelling style. She eventually delved into photography which ignited her love of cameras, all of which came together to ignite her interest and passion for filmmaking.
Polymenis's most recent work includes her Undergraduate Thesis film "η πατρίδα (The Homeland)" which exemplifies her interest in exploring hegemonic familial dynamics, culture, identity, and ideology.

Velasco and Polymenis met at the Radio-Television-Film summer camps in the summer of 2023 where they quickly bonded and planned to work together on Velasco's Pre-Thesis film. Polymenis's work on Velasco's Pre-Thesis cemented their relationship as Polymenis has taken on producing more work for Velasco. The two continue to work with each other as Polymenis shifts into more cinematographic roles for Velasco as the Director of Photography on their upcoming short,"After the Threesome They Drive me Home," and slated for two more films of Velasco's including her final Thesis film.
Velasco's commitment to the values and intentions of Onirios Films as well as her friendship with Polymenis have made her a valued member of the Onirios Films core team.
